As students in sociology and anthropology, we stand firm in solidarity with the people of Palestine, as well as with Palestinian students, and other individuals affected by the atrocious actions perpetuated by the state of Israel. We affirm that what is occurring in Gaza is genocide, and support the Amnesty International Report that Israel is conducting apartheid in the West Bank. We recognize the struggle of the Palestinian people against occupation and oppression, and we commit ourselves to support their fight for equality and human rights.
SASU is proud to announce its support for the BDS movement, which stands for Boycott, Divest, and Sanction. BDS, a Palestinian led organization, was founded as a method to fight against the actions of the state of Israel. We believe aligning with BDS is an effective way of expressing our deep concern about the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and apartheid in the West Bank. SASU condemns the actions of the Israeli state, as well as the lack of action by Concordia University. Our stance, and this motion, is rooted in pursuit of peace, justice, and human rights for all.
SASU will work towards cutting all economic ties that are contributing to Israels war on the Palestinian people as well as boycott all corporations and organizations have have social or economic ties to the state. This includes a divestment from RBC, which has sent money to Israel after October 7th, 2023, and is contributing to an apartheid regime and to the mass loss of life amongst the Palestinian people.
